Bradley Angle
Brand Refresh
and Impact Report
Bradley Angle helps survivors escape domestic violence and rebuild safe and prosperous lives. The organization provides support services to underserved survivors, including people of color and those identifying as LGBTQ.
Ocelot has worked closely with Bradley Angle since 2016, starting with a full website design. This foundational knowledge of their brand was why Ocelot was chosen to conceptualize and design a brand refresh in 2021.
Project goals
Bradley Angle has become well known for serving survivors of color and being an accepting, safe place for all people. The client requested a design refresh with a focus on the resilience and joy of the people they serve, specifically adult women of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
The client wanted elements of this updated brand to be reproducible for many uses and formats, as they often have in-house staff creating graphics and do not always have a budget for professional design services. Ocelot created a toolkit of textures, photography, typefaces and color for the client to use in creating many types of communications.
Brand Toolkit
COLOR
Bright purple is updated to a dark plum, alongside a very dark brown. These tones feel comforting and authentic when used with texture. They keep the playful patterns from looking too juvenile. Supporting shades provide flexible options for lighter layouts. They connect the updated brand to the established visuals, through an extended palette of purple shades.
TYPE
The main brand font remains Helvetica Neue Pro, with the addition of a heavy weight for headlines with extra emphasis. This weight is more legible over photos and patterns.
A script font can be used for very short headlines, and for emphasizing parts of body copy. This font works well for layering over photos.
PATTERN
Hand-drawn patterns with subtly distressed texture give a feeling of authenticity. When used as a background, pattern colors provide a quiet texture to the layout. Elements may be pulled out of patterns and used over certain areas of a layout, providing color, texture, and visual interest.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography should reflect Bradley Angle’s focuses on offering culturally sensitive programming for survivors. The Bradley Angle community will be accurately and respectfully represented through photography which features people of color and LGBTQ people. Subjects will appear empowered, strong, and resilient.
2021 Impact Report
The 2021 Impact Report, “Hope on the Horizon”, was one of the first widely distributed pieces to introduce the updated branding. This piece is mailed to donors and the wider community. It contains a description of the organization’s mission, a brief summary of their year in statistics, an outline of services provided, a survivor’s story, financials for the year, and upcoming community events.
Conclusion: The project was successfully completed on time and at budget. The client was pleased and has continued to use the branding for all communications and outreach since it was implemented in 2021. Bradley Angle’s in-house team has been able to successfuly use the branding toolkit to create their own high-quality branded materials.

Design is an incredibly powerful tool that can make all the difference in how you are perceived. Good design gets noticed.
